All Dulles Area Muslim Society(ADAMS)
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 9/12/2001
The All Dulles Area Muslim Society (ADAMS) center and sign at future site has been
vandalized as a part of hate crime retaliation.
(Herndon, VA 9/12/2001) This morning the ADAMS Sterling Mosque hallway was vandalized
with profanity and graffiti and the sign at its future construction site at Herndon
on Sugarland Road and Drainesville Road was also vandalized with profanity and graffiti.
The Police have been contacted and ADAMS is working with them.
Threats have been received by many Muslim organizations across the U. S. and Muslims
have been and continue to be harassed. Muslim women that wear the headcovering have
been harassed and fear for their safety.
The seven million American Muslims should NOT be persecuted for the acts of a few
insane individuals. These inhumane terrorists DO NOT represent Islam or Muslims.
In fact, American Muslims worked in the World Trade Center and the Pentagon and
are among the victims along with all of humanity in this horrible and despicable
terrorist attack.
The ADAMS Center took part in and spoke at an interfaith service on September 11
at 7:30pm which was organized by the United Chrisitian Parish. Chrisitian, Jewish,
and Muslim people took part in the service and over 300 people attended. The message
of the evening was condemnation of the horrible terrorist attacks and the seeking
of peace, brotherhood, and tolerance.
The All Dulles Area Muslim Society Society(ADAMS), along with other Muslim organizations
throughout North America, strongly condemns the terrorist attacks and expresses
deep sorrow for Americans that were injured and killed. ADAMS sends its condolences
to all victims of this cowardly terrorist attack. ADAMS supports all efforts of
the investigation in order to track down the people responsible for this tragic
act of terrorism. We join with all Americans in calling for the swift apprehension
and punishment of the perpetrators.
ADAMS is setting up a fund and a blood donation drive to help the victims and their
families
