Northern Virginia Mosques and Organizations organize the 5th Annual Northern Virginia Civic Picnic on August 20, 2005 at Lake Fairfax Park 16 Candidates for Virginia State Offices, 4 Local Government Officials, and Interfaith Representatives will be speaking.

What: Northern Virginia Mosques and Organization are holding the 5th Annual Northern Virginia Family and Civic Picnic on Saturday Aug 20, 2005 from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm at Lake Fairfax Park in Reston, VA. ADAMS, Dar Al-Hijrah, Manassas Mosque, Muslim Assocation of Virgina, MAS Freedom Foundation, MPAC, CAIR are 501(c) Non Profit organizations and consequently will be inviting all candidates from all parties to address the community. In addition, Local Government Officials and Interfaith Representatives will be addressing the community. Civic involvement, Voter Registration and Family fun will be the theme of the picnic.

Details: The Muslim community of Northern Virginia has made it a priority to encourage our community to be involved with local and state government elections and other civic issues. ADAMS, Dar Al-Hijrah Islamic Center, Manassas Mosque, and Muslim Association of Virginia serve a community of over 50,000 people. Our regional religious celebrations attract over 20,000 people from Northern Virginia. We continue to conduct voter registration drives, as we are planning one for this event, and encourage civic involvement at our centers and our activities.
