The All Dulles Area Muslim Society (ADAMS) expresses sincere condolences and sympathies to  the community and families of Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut after the horrific and tragic mass murder of 20 children and 6 adults.  No words can express our sadness and sorrow for this tragedy. Our thoughts and heart felt prayers are with the victims and their families. We ask God Almighty to encompass them with his love and mercy.

The United Way of Western Connecticut has created a Sandy Hook School Support Fund. For more information, visit https://newtown.uwwesternct.org/.

This type of  senseless violence is condemned by all.  As Muslims, we believe that if anyone kills one person, it is as if he/she has killed all of humanity, and if anyone saves one life, it is as if he/she has saved all of humanity. This is the seventh horrific mass shooting like this in America in the year 2012.  When weapons fall in the hands of dangerous people, not only are lives lost and mourned within a given community, but a traumatic experience and sense of loss is felt throughout our entire nation. We must come together in solidarity and work to end gun violence and create safe and peaceful communities. We urge our elected Representatives and  Government Officials to take all necessary measures to prevent this from happening again.
ADAMS is an affiliate of the Islamic Society of North America which is a part The Campaign to Stop Gun Violence. CSV is a coalition of national organizations demanding that policy makers enact better laws to keep our communities free from gun violence.  The coalition includes organizations that focus on issues such as religion, civil rights, domestic violence prevention, the legal profession, women's rights, human rights, and suicide prevention. May God bless and keep our country safe.
