Beyond the Headlines: Perspectives on the Challenges and Opportunities in Syria
Date: May 23, 2025
Time: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Location: ADAMS Sterling
Join us for an evening of reflection, analysis, and community engagement as we explore the evolving realities in Syria—from humanitarian needs on the ground to the complex policy landscape shaping its future.
The evening opens with Imam Mohamed Magid, sharing firsthand observations from his recent visit to Syria and highlighting the urgent needs and resilience of communities affected by ongoing challenges.
This will be followed by insights from Wa’el Alzayat, a former U.S. State Department policy advisor and a native of Syria. Drawing from his decade of experience shaping U.S. policy in the Middle East—including his work as Syria Outreach Coordinator—Alzayat will offer a deep dive into the geopolitical and social dynamics impacting Syria today and in the years to come.
The program concludes with an interactive Q&A, a look at actionable ways to support humanitarian efforts, and closing reflections.
Step beyond the headlines—join us to gain deeper understanding and explore meaningful ways to engage.
