Join Sh. Cheikh Ahmed Tijane Diallo for a deep dive into the principles and methodology of Hadith studies. This class will cover Mustalah al-Hadith (مصطلح الحديث), exploring how scholars preserved and authenticated the sayings of the Prophet ﷺ. Perfect for students eager to understand the rigorous science that safeguards the Prophetic tradition.
Location: ADAMS Gainesville
Day: Tuesday
Time: After Maghrib (will adjust with prayer times)
Instructor: Imam Hicham Hall
Starting Date: October 14
Duration: Approximately 15–18 weeks (aiming to finish before Ramadan – may be modified as needed)
Course Description: Many Muslims have never formally studied the fiqh of Taharah (purification) and Salah (prayer), even though these are personal obligations (Fard ‘Ayn) for every practicing Muslim. This class is designed to fill that gap. Students will gain a solid understanding of the essential rulings, building confidence that their purification and prayer are ritually sound. By studying fiqh systematically, participants can avoid doubt, speculation, constant reliance on online rulings, or getting drawn into disputes over differences of opinion. This knowledge is indispensable for every practicing Muslim.
Beyond formal rules, prayer is ultimately about the heart. Even a legally valid prayer can fall short if it lacks presence, humility, and mindfulness. This class will also explore the inner dimensions of worship, drawing on Imam Ghazali’s teachings, to help students cultivate God-consciousness, reverence, and spiritual focus in every prayer.
Qurtuba Community Education: This class is part of our Foundations Curriculum, designed to build religious literacy in the community. The course is completely free, but registration is required. Your support and donations allow us to continue offering these programs.
Note on Madhhab: The class is based on Maliki fiqh, reflecting the instructor’s background. For students who have not previously studied a madhhab, the priority is to gain a solid foundation in one recognized Sunni school, rather than becoming concerned about which school to follow. We will strive to offer this course based on other madhāhib in the future.

This Ramadan, we are raising funds to create food baskets for our brothers and sisters in need within our communities. As we approach this blessed month, Sukoon Circle and Adams Youth are partnering with Nova Raft, Fresh Start Refugee, and Islamic Relief to provide essential supplies to 140 families in Alexandria, VA, where a large Afghan refugee population resides.
Your contributions will directly help feed these families during Ramadan, a time when food insecurity is especially high. Each package will include rice, dates, flour, vegetable oil, salt, beans, and more to support them throughout the month. Your donation will aid in enhancing the Islamic Relief food kits with the addition of meat!
Giving in charity, especially during Ramadan, holds immense reward. Zakah and Sadaqah purify our wealth and serve as a means of helping those who are struggling. The Prophet ﷺ reminded us that charity does not decrease wealth, but rather increases it in blessings. Allah (SWT) says in the Quran:
“The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed of grain that sprouts seven ears; in every ear there are a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies [the reward] for whom He wills. And Allah is All-Encompassing and Knowing.”
(Surah Al-Baqarah 2:261)
In addition to donations, there will be various volunteer opportunities, including making cards for families, unloading boxes, and assisting with distribution. Please consider donating and supporting those who are less fortunate.
May Allah bless you all in this world and the next. Jazakum Allahu Khayran.
Important: Please only sign up to volunteer if you are 100% certain you can commit, as we rely on our volunteers to ensure a smooth and efficient process.

In this call to bravery from Olympic medalist Ibtihaj Muhammad, Faizah learns to overcome her fears and stand in front of the crowd in this beautiful celebration of family, fencing, and community.
Faizah loves being part of the community at her mosque, and she loves being part of the group at her fencing lessons. When all eyes are on her, though, Faizah freezes up. Mama says bravery will come with time, but there’s a fencing tournament coming up—does Faizah have what it takes to be bold?
Ibtihaj Muhammad is an entrepreneur, author, activist, and Olympic medalist in fencing. A five-time Senior World medalist and World Champion, in 2016 she became the first American woman to compete in the Olympics in hijab, the first Muslim-American woman to win an Olympic medal, and the first Black woman to win an Olympic medal in the sabre event.
Ibtihaj’s business ventures align with her deep passion to create visibility and equity for women and girls, including those who wear hijab—a group often underrepresented. In 2014 Ibtihaj launched her own clothing company, Louella, aiming to bring modest, fashionable and affordable clothing to the United States market. In 2017, Mattel honored Ibtihaj as a Barbie “Shero,” a woman who has broken boundaries to inspire the next generation of girls, modeling the first hijabi Barbie in her likeness. Ibtihaj released her debut memoir in 2018 titled PROUD: My Fight for an Unlikely American Dream, followed by a series of children’s books including the NYT Best Seller “The Proudest Blue”.
