Join us for the start of the Grounding’s latest 2-part series on When the Plan Falls Apart
The career didn’t work out. The relationship ended. The timeline fell apart. Life rarely unfolds the way we imagined it would. Through powerful stories from the Qur’an, Sunnah, and Islamic history, this two-part series explores how to navigate disappointment, uncertainty, and life’s unexpected turns while finding meaning, resilience, and a deeper connection with Allah.
Led by Ust. Madeha Baqai, we will consider critical questions such as: Why does life look so different from what you imagined? Why do we experience disappointment? Does your situation automatically improve if you worship God? Are there any hidden wisdoms in the unexpected detours and obstacles in life? And finally, how can I reconcile disappointment in my own life with trusting God?
Featuring a talk and discussions, the event begins promptly at 7:30 and takes place in Qawha Cafe. This session takes place on Ashurah when many people will be fasting, please bring any food or snacks so we can break our fasts together!
The latest session in our weekly series for young working professionals on contemporary issues through spiritual lens, it is highly encouraged to buy a ticket if able as always, donations are greatly appreciated to help support future events! We look forward to seeing you there!
Week 1 – The Disappointment of Unmet Expectations
When life looks nothing like you imagined, whether it’s marriage, career, family, or personal goals, how do you make sense of disappointment without losing hope? Through the stories of Yusuf, Musa, the Prophet ﷺ, and others, we’ll explore how Islam helps us navigate the gap between our expectations and reality.
Week 2 – Finding God in the Detours
What if the closed doors, delays, and unexpected turns in your life are not obstacles, but part of Allah’s plan for your growth? Drawing from the Qur’an, Sunnah, and Islamic history, we’ll explore how to find meaning, purpose, and trust in Allah when the path forward is unclear.
