Ramadan Nights – Finding God

Ramadan Nights, Qahwa Cafe’s event of the year, returns!

Join us for our third session with Imam Hicham Hall and Ustaadah Kouthar Muttardy as they discuss “Finding God”.

The theme of this year’s Ramadan Nights is The Search, where explore the institutions and people that created us, our quests to rediscover them, and the answers for how they bring us closer to God.  Each week of this 4-part series will focus on something different for which we are searching for, highlighting our personal experiences and incorporating key lessons from the story of Prophet Musa (Peace Be Upon Him) and how they relate to our own lives.

Doors open at 10:45pm after Taraweeh with the main event beginning at 11pm in the Main Musallah.  Featuring a talk and discussion circles, registration is free but donations are strongly encouraged to help us fund future events!  Tickets will be capped at 600 due to spacing limitations.

Open to young adults ages 18+, absolutely all are welcome and greatly look forward to your attendance this Ramadan!

About Ustaadah. Kouthar Muttardy

Kouthar Muttardy was born and grew up in Northern Virginia. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with an emphasis in human development from George Mason University and has completed a Master of Arts in education from Marymount University. Kouthar has worked as a K-12 teacher, teacher trainer, & curriculum development specialist for over 20 years.

Ustadha Kouthar has been studying traditional Islamic sciences including tajwid, tafsir, aqeedah, seerah, hadith, and Hanbali & Shafi’i fiqh since high school. Kouthar completed her Islamic Studies Teacher Certification at the Ribaat Academic Institute in 2020 and is currently in pursuit of a doctoral degree in Islamic Studies.

About Imam Hicham Hall

Imam Hicham Hall was born in Tangier, Morocco to a convert Scottish-American father and Moroccan mother, and grew up in the DMV. He has served at the Islamic Society of Western Maryland, MAS DC, PEARLS, and ADAMS as youth mentor, community halaqa leader, khateeb, and Imam for nearly 10 years.

Imam Hicham began his private studies with local students of knowledge and Imams. He attended Zaytuna College followed by traditional studies overseas. Hicham graduated from George Mason with a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies in Islamic Thought. Seeking additional traditional knowledge, he spent more time overseas studying with his teachers and continues to do so remotely. He is currently concluding his MA in Islamic Studies at Bayan and currently serves as the lead Imam at ADAMS Gainesville and head of the Sanctuary, ADAMS’s department for new and newly practicing Muslims.
